Prof CHAN Andrew
Andrew CHAN(陳文樂)is a Professor in the School of Biomedical Sciences and has taken up the Directorship of the School starting from January 2020. He obtained his BSc with honours from the University of Lancaster and his PhD from the University of London. Similar to CUHK, Lancaster University has a collegiate system. He was a member of the Fylde College, which has a reputation for sporting excellence.
CHAN joined the School of Biomedical Sciences, CUHK, as a Professor in 2012. Prior to that, he was a faculty member at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the Medical College of Wisconsin between the period of 1994 to 2012. He has a sustained interest in cancer research and teaches graduate-level courses during his academic career. Apart from mentoring MD/PhD, PhD, and MS students, CHAN was also hosting high school students for the Intel Science Talent Search competition.
CHAN served on grant review panels at the US National Institutes of Health and United States Department of Defense. He also provided scientific review services for research organizations in Taiwan, UK, Canada and Italy. CHAN is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
