GECW1000, 2000, 3000 & 4000 Non-formal Learning I, II, III & IV

GECW1000, 2000, 3000 & 4000 Non-formal Learning I, II, III & IV carry no credit units, but are required in both terms for all Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 students except those on outbound exchange, full-time internship, suspension of studies for a valid reason for one term/ year. Activities include communal dining, Extended Orientation (for students in GECW1000 only), and other activities approved by the College.

Communal Dining (required in both terms of Years 1 to 4 of attendance)

Students will have the opportunity to interact with fellow students, to share views, and to develop a sense of the College community. There will also be opportunities to interact with teachers and to benefit from the wisdom of invited speakers.

Extended Orientation (required in Term 1 of Year 1 of attendance)

  • To help students make adjustments to university life smoothly and become part of the College community
  • Through a series of designed College talks, workshops and activities, to help new students to develop a positive attitude towards university life

Attendance Requirement

Students assigned to the above courses are required to fulfill a minimum attendance rate of communal dinners and take part in a certain number of College initiated/ accepted activities per term in order to receive a PP grade. For details, see “Attendance Requirement”. Students are advised to pay attention to updates sent via email (@link email).
