Mr. LEUNG Kin Fung

Mr. LEUNG Kin Fing  梁建楓

A distinguished musician, Leung Kinfung was born in Guangzhou, and began studying the violin at the age of five. He enrolled in HKAPA in 1984 and later studied at the Eastman School of Music, the Manhattan School of Music and, having won the Irving Ruckens Award, also the Juilliard School, where he won the first prize at the 1992 Young Artist Competition in New York. Earlier successes include: the Hong Kong Commercial Radio Prize in 1986, the Mary Owen Borden Memorial Foundation Award in 1990 and the second prize at the 19th William Primrose International Viola Competition in 1991. He was among the Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Hong Kong in 2002, was listed in Who’s Who in the HKSAR in 2004, and was commended in 2005 by the Secretary for Home Affairs for outstanding achievements in the promotion of arts and culture.

With a world-class reputation, Leung has performed around the world, including a recital at the Kennedy Center and regularly appearances in the Super World Orchestra in Tokyo. Leung has been guest concertmaster for the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and the Macau Symphony Orchestra.

Leung has been the First Associate Concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also served on the faculty of HKAPA and CUHK.
