Prof LEE Louis
N.Y. Louis Lee is an award-winning author, educator, and radio broadcaster. A cognitive psychologist by training, his interests in education started when he had to serve as teaching assistant during his doctoral training at Princeton University, USA; where he subsequently became a Graduate Fellow at Mathey College, and later became recipient of an annual teaching award. He first joined CUHK in 2007, when he became Assistant Professor in Educational Psychology; after chairing briefly the Student Life Subcommittee at SH Ho College, he became Founding Dean of Students of Wu Yee Sun College, where he initiated the Creativity Lab.
An expert in designing study tours, Lee received the Hong Kong Biennial Publishing Award for his educational title “Around the World in 18 Hours”. Two of his popular science radio programmes for Radio and Television Hong Kong (both with Vincent CK Cheung, CUHK) were decorated with the New York Festivals World’s Best Radio Programme Award. He has written over 210 book reviews and articles on culture, travel, music, education, and psychology in leading Hong Kong and mainland Chinese outlets such as Wen Wei Po, South China Morning Post, Ming Pao Monthly, Hangzhou Daily and Shanghai Daily. He speaks fluent Chinese Cantonese, Chinese Mandarin, English, German, and has some knowledge of French and Spanish; he has set foot in over 70 countries.
Lee now calls the Office of University General Education home, where he serves as Founding Editor of La Terre, the Chinese-English bilingual official journal of the General Education China Programme, and plans and leads study tour programmes.
