Prof WANG Shuaizhong
Shuizhong WANG (王帥中) is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (since 2023). He received his PhD from the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA) at ETH Zurich (2020-2023) and his Master’s degree from the Department of Architecture at Aalto University in Finland (2016-2019). During his studies, he also conducted research exchange at the Tsukamoto Laboratory (Atelier Bow-Wow) at Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan (2017-2018). He completed his undergraduate studies at the Department of Architecture, Xi’an Jiaotong University (2011-2016), affiliated with Chongshi College.
Since 2023, Shuizhong WANG has been teaching at CUHK, focusing on integrated architectural and structural design, structural reuse, structural pedagogy, graphical statics, and neuroarchitecture. He serves as a guest editor for architectural journals such as Architectural Journal, The Architect, and Time+Architecture. He has organized and chaired the “Strong Structures” international academic symposium and the “Structural Behaviorology” workshop and exhibition.
Shuizhong WANG has always sought to bridge the gap between architectural research and practice. He has accumulated extensive teaching and practical experience in China, Finland, Japan, and Switzerland. He has worked at B&M and JKMM Architects in Finland and has won multiple awards in national and international architectural competitions, including the International VELUX Award and the ArkxSite Young Architect Competition.
Additionally, since 2023, Shuizhong WANG has been a Committee Member of the Appearance of Bridges and Associated Structures (ACABAS) for the Highways Department of Hong Kong and the Authorized Persons Registration Committee Panel and Authorized Persons Registration Committee (APRC) for the Buildings Department of Hong Kong. He is also a member of the International Association of Structures and Architecture (IASA).
