Mr. Peter WOO
Mr Woo was born in Shanghai, and moved to Hong Kong as a child. After completing Form 6, he attended a small liberal arts college in Pennsylvania based on a full scholarship administered by Institute of International Education. Later on, he studied International Relations and Economics at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and Graduate School, and was a Weintal Scholar. He completed a Master in Science in Foreign Service and Master in Arts in Economics at Georgetown. While studying at Georgetown, he obtained internships at the Brookings Institution, a leading think tank. He also worked at international organizations in Washington DC, including 3 years at the International Monetary Fund. To broaden himself, he then completed an MBA at University of California at Los Angeles. He then worked as an investment manager in San Francisco, in the pension investment department of a Baby Bell, now part of AT&T. He returned to Hong Kong in the 90s, initially at Standard Chartered Private Bank’s investment department, as the Chief Portfolio Strategist. He then headed a small fund management company affiliated with a major bank. He has experience in various areas in investment advisory and management over the years. He became a Chartered Financial Analyst in 1993. He is very interested in international issues. He is a regular tennis player.
