Title: Senior Resident Tutor

Department/ Programme: Research Assistant Professor, Department of Electronic Engineering

Residence: Room 339, CW Chu College Hostel

Hello, my name is Sam. Welcome to the CW Chu College.

I am currently a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering, CUHK. I received my PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Robotics) from PolyU in 2022. From 2022 to 2023, I was a postdoc fellow with the Electronic Engineering Department at CUHK, where I worked on robotics and mechatronics. My research interests include flexible robots, medical mechatronics, robotic sensing, sensorimotor control, and machine intelligence.

Apart from academics, I enjoy pumping irons in the gym. You’ll probably see me in the university gym deadlifting, benching, or squatting. Feel free to approach me if you ever need some bodybuilding tips; I would be more than happy to help. Besides, I am a coffee enthusiast. Some say academics turn coffee into research papers – I can’t agree more.

I joined CW Chu College as a Resident Tutor in 2022, then became a Senior Resident Tutor in 2023. Before that, I have been a hall tutor at PolyU Homantin Halls for about 4 years. My own hostel life was instrumental during my college education; hence I am honored to be a part of yours. CW Chu College endeavors to foster an intimate and cordial community through full residence and communal dining. We have residents from different parts of the world and professionals contributing to a diverse living environment. I believe we at the CW Chu College will do all that we can to embrace inclusiveness and provide you with multiple avenues to bond with your fellow residents. I hope we can learn from each other, grow, and become stronger as a community.

I can be reached through Whatsapp, phone, email, and in person. Wish you all could find a vibrant hostel experience and enjoyable college life here!
