DENG Yuqing

I am Deng Yuqing, a postgraduate student in the Department of Biomedical Science at CUHK. I completed my undergraduate studies in Australia and my Master’s in the UK, so I understand firsthand the challenges and excitement of adapting to new academic cultures.
In my free time, I enjoy strumming my ukulele, going for runs to clear my mind, and recently, I have started exploring fitness training—still a beginner, but loving the journey.
My interest in becoming a CWC Resident Tutor grows from my three years as a tutor at Shaw College. That experience taught me crisis management, active listening, and event organisation. However, after three years in one hall, I became curious about how different college cultures shape student life. I want to bring my Shaw-gained experience to CWC while embracing its unique international and holistic ethos. I see this as growth, not a departure—experiencing CWC will make me a more flexible and empathetic mentor.
For the coming year, I hope to celebrate both Chinese and international festivals with residents—think Lunar New Year dumpling-making, Mid-Autumn Festival mooncake gatherings, or Halloween and Christmas festivities. These occasions are wonderful opportunities to share cultures and build bonds. On my duty nights, I also warmly invite you to drop by and share anything from your life or studies—whether it is a joyful moment you want to celebrate or a struggle you need to offload. My door is always open for a listening ear.
Residents can reach me via WhatsApp (54807613), email (1155229304@link.cuhk.edu.hk), or in person—my room is 639. No appointment needed.
I truly look forward to the year ahead with all of you.
