Professor Jack Laurie Harris is a Fellow of CW Chu College and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and Resource Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He obtained his BSc with first class honours in Geography from Canterbury Christ Church University, his MSc with distinction in Human Geography from the University of Amsterdam, and his PhD in Economic Geography from the National University of Singapore. Professor Harris has worked at the University of Southampton and the University of Klagenfurt before joining CUHK in August 2024.

His research focuses primarily on structure – agency dynamics in regional economic development, particularly on the role of high-technology industrial clusters, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and multi-system dynamics. He has also published in leading journals on sustainable transitions, FinTech, the blue economy, and industrial strategy. Currently, Professor Harris teaches courses on Urban Geography, Economic Geography, Qualitative Research Methods, and Sustainable Development.
