Mr MEUNIER Benjamin
Benjamin Meunier is the University Librarian at The Chinese University of Hong Kong since April 2023. The University Librarian serves as a University Officer and is responsible for overseeing CUHK Library’s operations with effective strategic planning and supervision; enhancing the student learning experience; strengthening research collections of the library and developing key collaborative relationships. Ben is leading a number of initiatives within CUHK and with Hong Kong universities to maximise the impact of research from the region, including Open Books Hong Kong.
Ben is the Vice Chair of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau University Libraries Alliance. Ben also serves as a Chair of the Pacific Rim Research Libraries Alliance Steering Committee (from December 2024), and as a member of the IFLA Library Buildings & Equipment Section. Previously, he was Secretary of the LIBER (Association of European Research Libraries) Architecture Group between and 2018 and 2023.
Previously, he was the Director of Operations at UCL Library, Culture, Collections and Open Science, overseeing Estate developments, Health & Safety, Communication and other operational matters. He contributed to the strategic development of 16 libraries, 4 museums and the university theatre. Ben led the development of library services in UCL East, a major development on the Olympic Park in London to create a model for the university campus of the future.
Ben holds an MBA in Higher Education Management from UCL and a BA from the University of Warwick.
