Her entrepreneurial spirit took her to Shanghai, where she played a pivotal role in launching the first Wanchai Ferry dumpling facility and introducing the brand to the Chinese market. She later moved to Guangzhou to further expand the business, where she was instrumental in acquiring a local frozen food company, solidifying Wanchai Ferry’s presence in the region.
A Remarkable Family Legacy:
Joanne’s inspiring journey is rooted in her family’s story. In 1977, her mother, a single parent, brought Joanne and her younger sister to Hong Kong as immigrants from Mainland China. To support her family, Joanne’s mother began selling dumplings from a wooden cart at the Wanchai Ferry pier—a humble beginning that gave rise to the beloved “Wanchai Ferry” brand.
Joanne Wong’s story is one of resilience, leadership, and a deep commitment to both her heritage and the wider community.
