GECW1000, 2000, 3000 & 4000 Non-formal Learning I, II, III & IV
GECW1000, 2000, 3000 & 4000 Non-formal Learning I, II, III & IV carry no credit units, but are required in both terms for all Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 students except those on outbound exchange, full-time internship, suspension of studies for a valid reason for one term/ year. Activities include communal dining, Extended Orientation (for students in GECW1000 only), and other activities approved by the College.

Communal Dining (required in both terms of Years 1 to 4 of attendance)
Students will have the opportunity to interact with fellow students, to share views, and to develop a sense of the College community. There will also be opportunities to interact with teachers and to benefit from the wisdom of invited speakers.
Extended Orientation (required in Term 1 of Year 1 of attendance)
- To help students make adjustments to university life smoothly and become part of the College community
- Through a series of designed College talks, workshops and activities, to help new students to develop a positive attitude towards university life
Attendance Requirement
In 2025–26, attendance at CD and HTD will NOT be counted for the non-credit bearing College General Education courses: GECW1000/ 2000/ 3000/ 4000. Since hostel accommodation and College Dining are bundled, there is no reduction or refund of both hostel fee and meal charge. Meal plan participants are required to swipe their SID cards at the registration counter for identity verification. CD participation will also continue to serve as an important reference for the College in considering College scholarships, awards and spare hotel places under special application.
