Prof TEOH Jeremy Yuen-chun, Assistant Dean (External Affairs) and Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at CUHK’s Faculty of Medicine and Fellow of CW Chu College, has been honoured with the prestigious John K. Lattimer Lectureship by the American Urological Association (AUA). Prof TEOH is the first Asian-based researcher to receive this international recognition since it was established in 1977.

The AUA is among the world’s largest urological associations, representing over 23,000 urological healthcare professionals worldwide. For 50 years, the John K. Lattimer Lectureship has annually honored medical professionals whose innovations have the potential to transform urology and medicine.

In the 2026–27 academic year, Prof NG Wai Lung Billy, Associate Professor from the School of Pharmacy and our College teacher, is one of 18 CUHK scholars who have received funding from the Hong Kong Research Grants Council under the Overseas Research Fellowship Scheme (ORFS) and the Junior Research Fellow Scheme (JRFS).

The ORFS is a new pilot scheme launched by the RGC to support international collaboration. It enables scholars to visit overseas institutions, broaden their global perspective and enhance the international presence of Hong Kong universities.

We welcomed Ms HOU Zuxin, CUHK alumna and filmmaker, as Guest of Honour for our Fourth High Table Dinner. Drawing on her Sociology background, she shared insights on overcoming bias, embracing challenges and staying resilient. Her inspiring message encouraged students to reflect on their growth and treat themselves and others with empathy and understanding.

At the night talk ‘Those Fascinating Women’, Ms HOU Zuxin shared how encounters with remarkable women shaped her storytelling journey. Participants explored filmmaking and documentary creation, while gaining inspiration from her passion, dedication, and encouragement to discover meaningful stories in everyday life.

12–16 May 2026

Twelve CWC students, joined by four staff members, participated in a five-day study tour to Jiangsu and Shanghai with support from Fudan University and CUHK’s Shanghai Centre. The programme offered deep insights into the Yangtze River Delta through cultural visits, historical exploration, academic exchange and exposure to technological innovation.

Participants honoured Dr CHU Ching-wen whose vision and commitment to education laid a strong foundation for the College, and Mr QIAO Guanhua who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China from 1974 to 1976. They also visited iconic heritage sites, including Qingming Bridge and Nanchang Street in Wuxi, Huishan Ancient Town and Pingjiang Road Historic Block in Suzhou.

Students engaged in Song Brocade weaving and embroidery workshops, experiencing traditional craftsmanship through hands-on learning.

Visits to the Site of the First National Congress and National Anthem Exhibition Hall deepened their understanding of modern Chinese history.

Students explored Suzhou Urban Planning Exhibition, Suzhou Museum and Wuxi Symphony Hall, linking heritage, development and culture.

Participants visited Unicomp, NSCC Wuxi, AstraZeneca, robotics laboratory at Fudan University and Dewu, exploring innovation, e-commerce, industry–academia collaboration, digital authentication services and transformation.

At Fudan University, students were given a lesson on regional geopolitics through the ‘Asia as a Mediterranean’ framework, ASEAN’s role and small-state strategies amid major-power competition.

Thanks to support from the CW Chu Foundation for Mainland study tours and ‘Ten Thousand Student Interflow Programme 2026’, the tour provided students with a holistic learning experience, deepening their understanding of China’s development, history, culture, innovation and global role.

As the first event organised by the Alumni Association of CW Chu College (CWCAA), Wine Tasting 101 brought alumni together for an enjoyable evening of wine appreciation and fellowship. Hosted by CWCAA President Mr Matthew LI, the event offered a relaxed introduction to the fundamentals of wine tasting while providing valuable opportunities for alumni to reconnect and expand their networks. The gathering was further enriched by the presence of Prof Kenneth YOUNG, Founding Master and Honorary Fellow, whose attendance made the occasion especially memorable.
